Freedom Living is operated by Community Comfort, which is a non-profit, charitable organization. We rely on volunteers and keep costs low by limiting advertising and relying on word of mouth to maintain 100% occupancy. Our utility costs are very low because our building is energy efficient, with LED lighting throughout, an efficient hydronic boiler heating system, and water-conserving shower and kitchen faucets. Our building is enrolled in the Energy Efficiency Alberta program.

We provide housing to active adults interested in a friendly, quiet home. Our tenants range in age from local health care worker practicum students through to independent active seniors.

All laundry and utilities (electricity, heat, water, sewer and waste removal) are included in the rent. We have additional complimentary building amenities to help reduce tenants’ other costs: Wi-Fi, internet-wired suites, an exercise room, a TV lounge (Netflix and Bell), coffee, games, a lounge room computer, Google Home and more. Tenants can choose to add their own cable.

We use an online property management platform. Tenants digitally sign the lease and set up automatic pre-authorized payments from their bank account, withdrawn on the first day of each month. We do not accept cheques, cash or credit cards. The only accepted form of payment is a pre-authorized monthly payment.

We accept small dogs (under 22 lbs) and cats. A monthly pet fee applies. The lease agreement contains more information about our pet policy.

We are barrier-friendly. All suites are on the main floor, with ramp access to the building. Each suite has accessibility-friendly door widths, a galley kitchen and a large bathroom (to accommodate a wheelchair turning radius) with a large walk-in shower (no bathtub).
